Diamond Dallas Page and Charles Duhigg

In this 21 minute episode of Shhh! The Secret Business Show, I interview wrestling legend turned yoga instructor, Diamond Dallas Page, plus New York Times investigative reporter turned bestselling author, Charles Duhigg. I also announce my new sponsor, GoToMeeting, who are also business partners in other ways, but who will now also be lending their GoToMeeting with HD Faces tech to my future interviews and shows. Also, in the mailbag, it seems to be headphones day around the Shhh! offices, plus a new car! Watch now:

Great stuff Chris. I like the Rawness here! Not interesting at all! Nope! Not One Bit! Was not expecting to see DDP in one of your interviews and found it to be interesting that an ex-pro wrestler is developing a community post-career.

On a side note, it seems that you read a lot! Curious though, you produce a lot of content and I’m certain that you are quite busy in your business endeavors. When sir do you get the time?

    Great Show!

The video quality was pretty good, did you use Skype or Goto? BTW, according to Goto Meeting, I cannot record video or audio on the Mac.

    Nice show, Chris. Great characters.

Have more fun editing and changing your clothes. That’s kind of fun to watch.

And maybe find a more comforting background (is that your prison cell? ;)

Excellent interviews. A wrestling yoga instructor ? Why not.
    Please, please change the backdrop.

Best 21 minutes I can remember – each bit packed a punch – the energy almost overwhelmed me but I think that was because I watched late in the evening (when bed called).

The Access stuff hit me as blindingly true – as if Chris had put into words & intelligence something I always knew in my gut.

I know what it’s like to have someone hit me in the face with their cause – before we’ve even said hello to each other. It makes me want to run away.

I remember when I was so full of enthusiasm for Audioboo (a podcasting App developed by a company in London UK): I wanted to show it to everyone – I was mad, crazy enthusiastic user who wanted to convert all sorts of people to use it.

Paul O’Connell is the most successful Irish rugby player of his generation. Captain of the Irish team too. One day I spotted him eating lunch in the same Italian bistro as me. I got thinking “wouldn’t it be great if Paul O’Connell started using Audioboo.”

20 minutes later, by accident, I ran into Paul on the street, whipped out my iPhone & started demonstrating to him. I was overcome by by own enthusiasm for my passion. I’d never even been introduced to the famous rugby star.

He was a polite gentle giant – but he let me know he wasn’t ready to consider using Audioboo. He asked if I owned the company & bid me best wishes.

As he walked off I felt an idiot. That wasn’t long ago. It did me good to be reminded I didn’t have ACCESS. I didn’t have any sort of relationship that would have got us into conversation.

“A lesson is repeated until it’s learned” – thank goodness. Hopefully I’ve finally learned not to lurch into pitching before rapport has been established.

That’s why I love Chris Brogan’s piece so much – it got right to the heart of a lesson it’s taken me an age to learn.

I’ll share Chris’s piece with others – it might save some of my contacts from learning the lesson a harder way.

I also love all the rest of the 21 minutes. Thanks Chris – you’re in great form.

Great spot with Charles Duhigg… Definitely going to have to pick up that book because learning how habits are formed is good for personal and professional growth. Thanks Chris!!
